Tartan Heroes is a platform where the Carnegie Mellon community can freely share their time, knowledge and resources with one another through a balance of offering and receiving help to create a happier campus environment.
Initial interviews were conducted with professors and students about offering and receiving help.
Our team mapped the scenarios we heard about for offering help, being approached for help and asking for help. Through this exercise we understood more the goals, skills and frustrations of giving and receiving help.
From our findings we prototyped an app that focused on a constant balance of offering and receiving help in an anonymous community.
The prototype was tested among students and professors at Carnegie Mellon before being refined.
The final design of the app has several features such as, offering realtime help as it is posted, keeping track of offers and wishes and overall ‘score’ of number of people helped.
